Sponsors

In our first year, we started simple. Of course, this meant doing almost everything ourselves. As such, our sponsors list is brief: just the production companies our Co-Founders launched: SOONL Media and Wicked West Coast.

SOONL Media is an independent production company that prioritizes Indigenous & rural stories, and aims to foster the local & regional arts sector through mentorship of youth & emerging artists.

Since its launch, SOONL has begun development work on two new original projects — an collaborative animation called Miniature Art Making Spaces (MAMS); and an untitled fictional film about an aging gay metalhead who returns to rural Newfoundland, where he must bury his recently deceased mother, and confront his past. SOONL has also consulted with Projectaroid Multimedia, with artist Roger Gallant, who has produced award-winning animations and films.

In 2025, through SOONL, Evan produced two seasons of a podcast called InDigital Insights for Indigenous Culture and Media Innovations. More recently, SOONL has been working on projects for the Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Circle NL, and WATERR Lab, which runs out of Grenfell Campus, Memorial University.

In 2022, emerging filmmaker Travis Lucas collaborated with three others (Eric White, Halen Pittman and Andrew Musgrave) to co-produce Wicked Fright — a pair of screenings at the Stephenville Arts & Culture Centre that featured short horror films, which these same artists wrote and directed. Since that time, Travis graduated from CNA’s Digital Filmmaking program (and had previously completed their Digital Animation program), and then launched Wicked West Coast.

This new production company has collaborated with numerous other former and current students, plus other filmmakers to produce original works of fiction, often comedies. Many are released freely through Wicked’s YouTube channel, which also includes behind-the-scenes videos of the same productions.
